As you can see, Fred and Lou still kept in touch. But over time, advances in technology and transportation kept them apart. Their social capital became weakened just like many others in our generation.

  1. I personally love the way you showed social capital through a comic. I thought this was a very inventive form of presentation. Through each slide you demonstrate a new reason why keeping social capital high is hard for Americans nowadays.

  2. This was possibly the cutest thing in the world. I really liked the deterioration of their communication... and I'm ashamed to say that I have experienced that on numerous occasions. Perhaps not after moving, but after camps and such. Even letters would be better than a random half-meant text message I think, but Americans just don't take time for things like that anymore. This comic is such a great depiction of how Americans won't take time to even have a conversation on the phone or let alone aim because it takes too much sustained concentration. Now, we have text messages that we can reply to days later if we don't feel like responding right away!! haah! Great job guys!

  3. I loved your comic/story, your drawings were awesome, and I think it reflected society really well. You posed both the positive and negative aspects of technological advances in communication brilliantly through a simple comic/story. With the deterioration of Fred and Lou's contact, and eventually, friendship, it says something about how we can very well be victims of technology and circumstance just like them. We already are. So I guess with the ending of their friendship, you may be saying that technology and the decline of social capital may be the unraveling of American society? If so, I agree. Lila

  4. This is so awesome and creative!!! its a fun and cute way to tell everyone the truth about the modern days. this leads me to a question: where is the line between friendship and technology, is it the end or when is all of this gonna stop or change. and are we gonna have virtual friends. scary.

  5. This is great! I love it! so cute!
It made me realize how technology connects our society and how social capital is cut down by a lot if technology is not present. I know that if I didn't have my phone or the internet I would not be able to keep in touch with my friends that live in different places than me.
